About

PHILIP

Philip Paul grew up in the southeast U.S. in a fundamentalist family who had no idea what they were in for. He learned he was different from them, and eventually emerged from trauma, loss and rejection to a lifetime of healing. The first step was replacing toxic Christianity with LGBTQ community and advocacy.

By 2006, Philip brought his work in line with his values, providing sanctuary for queer, trans and unhoused young people. He graduated from Hunter School of Social Work in 2012 and went on to work in supported housing and care management. In 2018, Philip began practicing as a psychotherapist.

Philip’s practice is informed by his experience of oppression, his feminism and his core belief that everyone belongs and deserves to learn, love and thrive according to their best ideals.

Philip’s training includes a number of modalities designed to get to the root of what ails you including Motivational Interviewing, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), mindfulness and compassion practices and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Skills.
